Abstract:
2024 marks the 200th anniversary of Cathodic Protection (January) and the patenting of Portland Cement (October). One or other and frequently both of these important technologies has played a major role in the development of the modern built environment – not to mention my own ability to make a decent living. Now seems a fitting moment to recognise the significance of these bicentennials and consider how the future lies for them.
