Welcome to the Young Engineer Programme (YEP)
- A mentored technical competency framework program consistent with Institute of Corrosion professional standards in support of preparing graduates for entry into the industry with a broad range of topics to include; materials, cathodic protection, welding, coating, fire protection, presentation skills, etc.
- The course runs from January to November, with 8 evening technical discussions given by specialists in each field. The Engineers are given a mentor and a Case Study to complete, which is complex and carried out in groups. The group’s solution to the problem given to them is then presented back to a panel of industry experts at one of the Institute of Corrosion meetings, normally in November of that year.
- The winning group is awarded a prize which is related to the learning process.
- This is a stepping stone into the industry and is the first stage in achieving MICorr and CEng status.
The training programme is run every other year in London and is open to all other branches of the Institute of Corrosion.
